One person was found dead after an early morning apartment fire in central Edmonton on Monday.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services received reports of a multi-residential structure fire near 118 Street and 102 Avenue. Crews arrived on scene at 2:22 a.m. at an apartment building with alarms ringing and residents already evacuating the building.

Fire crews say they found one person deceased when they entered the fire suite.

There were no other injuries, and the fire was brought under control at 3:01 a.m., before officially being declared out at 3:50 a.m.

Edmonton police confirmed to CityNews that the death was non-criminal.
