CLAY CITY, Ky. (WKYT) - The Clay City IGA supermarket reopened Monday after a fire in August 2024 forced the store to close for 15 months.
The reopening marks the return of the only major grocery store for the town of 1,100 people in Powell County.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the grand reopening of the supermarket that serves as more than just a place to buy groceries for local residents.
“I’m tickled to death. I’ve been checking all the time to see when they would be opening this store up,” said Gary Hall, an IGA shopper.
