FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A local coalition is pushing back against a new advertising campaign to bring a casino to Fort Wayne, raising concerns about community impact and gaming addiction.
Cathie Humbarger with Coalition for a Better Allen County said the area doesn’t need a casino, pointing to Fort Wayne’s positive growth over the years without one.
There was controversy earlier this year about a casino potentially being built in New Haven, but those plans were shut down at the statehouse.
Humbarger expressed concerns about how a casino would affect people in the community.
“We certainly don’t want to bring in a corrupt organization and depend on them for economic development,” Humbarger said. “Additionally, we do have a responsibility for those who have a tendency or a predilection
