SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Students in the Islands High School FFA chapter made a major impact during their annual community service project, collecting more than 4,500 items for the Old Savannah City Mission to help people experiencing homelessness.
Islands FFA expanded their annual community service project beyond their traditional food drive after students learned of growing needs for hygiene products and clothing.
This November, the students gathered:
3,035 hygiene products
1,248 food items, totaling 372 pounds of food
233 clothing items
The items will go to the Old Savannah City Mission, which provides various resources and programs for people experiencing homelessness.
“It was amazing to see our students come together for a cause bigger than ourselves,” FFA President Emmett Willia
