MINNEAPOLIS — First-degree murder charges have been added to the man accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend just weeks after she filed a protection order against him, according to court documents.
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office announced that David Eugene Wright is charged with first-degree premeditated murder and first-degree murder, past pattern of domestic abuse, in addition to the second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm charges previously filed against him after a woman was found dead outside her home in north Minneapolis.
The family of the victim, later identified as Mariah Samuels , said she did everything she could to protect herself from Wright, including filing an order of protection against him just weeks prior.
