Neighbors claim mother in custody in connection to daughter's death had 'history of abuse'

FRUITPORT, Mich. —

A Muskegon County mother is sitting in the county jail with no bond, according to jail records, as police investigate the death of her 11-year-old daughter . A neighbor told 13 On Your Side that this is not the first time she’s heard a fight at the house.

Sherry Leak was arrested following what police said was an altercation at her house in Clover Estates Mobile Home Park in Fruitport around 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 23.

Fruitport Township Police Department Deputy Chief Gregory Poulson said it was Leak who called 911 to report Mialah Leak was unconscious and not breathing.

Emergency crews were not able to revive Mialah.
