FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Franklin Police Department is reminding the public of its vacation patrol service ahead of the busy holiday season.

With families across the city traveling for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays, the department is making sure residents know how to use its free service.

The vacation patrol service is available to keep homes secure while residents are out of town, according to FPD.

How it works:

“This courtesy service allows residents within city limits to register their homes for extra police patrols during their absence. While officers will periodically check the exterior of registered homes, the service is intended to supplement, not replace, basic home security practices such as alarms, cameras, and alert neighbors.“
