CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Federal prosecutors have dropped assault charges against a Charlotte woman whose attorney claimed video evidence contradicted the government's account of her arrest during a protest at an immigration enforcement facility.
A federal judge granted the government's motion to dismiss the criminal complaint against Heather Morrow, 44, without prejudice on Monday, according to court records. The dismissal came eight days after Morrow was charged with feloniously assaulting a federal officer.
Prosecutors did not provide a reason for seeking the dismissal.
Morrow was arrested Sunday, Nov. 16 outside a Department of Homeland Security office in Charlotte, where she and others had gathered during federal immigration enforcement operations. Prosecutors initially alleged she grabbe
