The Margaritaville development planned for North Alabama has been officially canceled, and the money was reallocated to a different project, according to Madison city officials.
In 2018, developers of Town Madison, Breland Companies, announced that they were bringing the Jimmy Buffett-inspired franchise to Town Madison. It was planned to be a 150-room hotel with a lazy river connecting it with Toyota Field, which was under construction at the time.
The minor league baseball stadium, home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas, went up, and the Margaritaville lot remained vacant.
It was scheduled to break ground in 2018 and be open in 2020.
