ALLEN -- The Wakeland girls basketball team entered a weekend of tournament play ranked No. 7 in Class 5A at one of the more entrenched tournaments of the local basketball scene: Allen's Lady Eagle Hoopfest.

In the four wins that brought them to the final, the Lady Wolverines had a point-differential of plus-89. But with defending Class 5A Division II champions Lubbock Monterey as their opponent in the title game, it would surely be a different outcome.
