The City of New Haven held a ribbon-cutting for its latest affordable housing complex on Monday.
The Monarch Apartment Homes are located at 149 Derby Ave., and they mark the latest efforts by the City of New Haven to address the state’s housing crisis.

The 64-unit complex will offer one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
"Not only does it have units that are of 80% median area income, but it also has 50% and 60% area median income which is hard to do,” Mayor Justin Elicker said.
The City of New Haven has set a goal to create 10,000 units over the next decade, with at least 30% being affordable.
In 2024, over 1,000 new units became available with 40% being affordable.
