Former Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.) announced Monday he’s launching a bid for Alabama governor, setting up a likely rematch against a former rival, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), next year.

“Because Alabama, you folks in Alabama, deserve a governor who is going to fight for them,” Jones said in a video on the social platform X .

“What we’re going to do is we’re going to be going around in this campaign. We’re going to be listening to people across the state,” he continued. “We’re going to do everything we can to bring the people back to the state capitol of Montgomery, Ala.”
