A central Florida man will spend more than a decade in prison for fatally striking a bicyclist while drunk driving on State Road A1A in 2018.

Glenn Brimmer, 36, was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay $750 to reimburse funeral expenses for the victim, John D. Perrin, according to the state attorney's office for the 18th judicial circuit. The crash happened on March 2, 2018, when Brimmer left the Cocoa Beach Pier and headed north on A1A before striking Perrin from behind.

Brimmer was convicted of DUI manslaughter in September based on evidence, including Brimmer's blood-alcohol content level at the time of the crash being .23 — more than twice the state's legal limit.
