SPOKANE, Wash. – Another case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) has been detected in the Mount Spokane area, near the site of three cases confirmed last year in north Spokane.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) confirmed positive test results late last week for the white-tailed adult male deer. This marks a total of six CWD cases confirmed in Washington, with five found in 2024.

The Spokane Tribe is also awaiting secondary test results for a deer from the Spokane Reservation that initially tested positive.

As hunting seasons continue through December, all elk, deer and moose harvested or salvaged in the Eastern Region must be tested for CWD. Testing is required before traveling with harvested animals to different parts of the state.
