A $5 million construction project has begun at a Lancaster County public housing community.
A façade restoration is underway at the Church Street Towers, a 101-unit building at 333 Church St. in Lancaster.
The project addresses rainwater infiltration behind the brick façade and received a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Capital Fund Reserve for Emergencies and Natural Disasters.
Background work for this project began last year when Sustainable Building Solutions completed a detailed building analysis, and Hammel Associates Architects developed the design and specifications.
Keystruct Construction serves as the general contractor.
The project includes replacement windows for all units, a new roof, and masonry repairs to address the rainwat
