CHEYENNE — When Ambreia Meadows-Fernandez heard about the Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in Chicago, she felt so much grief she couldn’t cry.

“My son is 9 years old,” Meadows-Fernandez said. “And I thought about him being one of those children, being ripped out of his bed in the middle of the night for all to see, with no concern about his rest, his wellness, his well-being, anything, and I was so sad I couldn’t cry.”

Raids conducted by ICE, Border Patrol and other federal agencies across the nation have been a source of controversy throughout the past year, sparking pushback from residents in major cities like Portland, Los Angeles and Chicago.
