FAYETTEVILLE -- One prime candidate for the vacant University of Arkansas head football coaching job was asked about his candidacy on Monday as Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek's search appeared headed down the home stretch.

University of Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack, the son of two-time Arkansas assistant coach Dave Wommack, briefly touched on a question about reports tying him to the opening at his Monday press availability.

"I appreciate the question, but, you know, I'm not going to address any job opportunity stuff," Wommack said as the Crimson Tide prepare for Saturday's Iron Bowl game at Auburn.

Wommack, 38, who played two seasons at Arkansas as a fullback and tight end before transferring to Southern Miss, is in his second season at Alabama with Coach Kalen DeBoer.
