The Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma has issued a Tornado Watch for the Pineywoods, Houston Metro, and Golden Triangle, effective until 1:00 a.m. This watch extends and redefines the Tornado Watch, which expired at 7 p.m.
Numerous storms, some severe, have been moving across the eastern third of Texas this afternoon and evening. Forecasters believe the threat of severe storms, with some possibly producing tornadoes, will continue for several more hours. In addition to tornadoes, scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph are possible, and isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter are possible
The tornado watch area is approximately along and 65 statute miles
north and south of a line from 50 miles west of Houston, Texas to 50
miles east northeast of Natchitoches, Louisiana
