When it comes to preventing a spike in uninsured residents, Gov. Maura Healey is passing the buck back to President Donald Trump.

“This is a big issue,” Healey said after meeting with legislative leaders Monday. “So people got to realize what Donald Trump did is take a trillion dollars out of health care.”

Healey referenced the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and its long-term federal Medicaid spending cuts.

Analysts have projected that the uninsured rate in Massachusetts could double as a result of the new rules in the federal mega law that tighten Medicaid eligibility.
