BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - There was a time when the head coaches in a Southern vs Grambling State matchup rarely changed.

Pete Richardson versus Eddie Robinson. Richardson versus Doug Williams. Dawson Odums versus Broderick Fobbs. The list goes on. That consistency has not been the case lately.

For the fifth straight year, the Bayou Classic will feature a different pair of head coaches. Grambling still has their same leader from last season, Mickey Joseph. Southern is led by their third interim in the last five seasons, Fred McNair.

This latest pairing was once coworkers at Alcorn State in 2013. While McNair was the Braves quarterbacks coach, Joseph served as wide receivers coach.

The 52 nd Bayou Classic is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
