MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — It's beginning to look a lot like a Christmas card at Skytop Lodge near Canadensis . Step inside the lobby, and you'll find the team of pastry chefs putting the finishing touches on the life-sized gingerbread house.
Executive pastry chef Lizzie Sparks says, "All of the guests like to stop us and ask about the process, and one of their favorite questions to ask is, 'Is it that actual gingerbread?' We always say yes, and the icing is always real."
The gingerbread house display has been a tradition here at Skytop for years; it's made with 700 eggs, 450 pounds of flour, and 12 pounds of gingerbread spice. This year's theme is old-time Christmas.
