TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Gospel Rescue Mission is calling on Tucson residents for food donations to support their 37th Annual Thanksgiving Blessings event. The organization aims to serve more than 3,000 meals to individuals experiencing hunger or homelessness.
Lead Chef Christopher Maybin, who once attended the event as a guest, is now at the helm of preparations.
"I was experiencing alcoholism, homelessness, and I came to the program for an ultimatum… it transformed my life completely," Maybin said.
Despite the event marking a significant moment for Maybin, the scale of this year's event presents challenges. Organizers plan to set up about 12 tents in the parking lot to accommodate the large crowd. Although they have hundreds of turkeys and pies ready, they still lack sufficient food
