COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Cookeville Girl Scout is helping the community by building a “blessing box” for members of the community who struggle with food security.
Sophia Clark, with the help of her mother, Renae, and her grandfather, built a blessing box for Jere Whitson Elementary School.
The blessing box is a small box that looks like a tiny neighborhood library and is used to share food resources. People can donate by placing non-perishable food in the Blessing Box.
The Blessing Box was installed on Nov. 24, Monday afternoon just ahead of Thanksgiving.
Renae shared with WSMV4 that there was a previous blessing box, but Sophia’s troop 2262 in Cookeville received a call saying the previous box was too small for the community.
