BLAKESLEE, Pa. — With the government shutdown ending just 15 days before Thanksgiving, celebrating the holiday is harder than ever for some folks.

"We've been struggling this last month, with the shutdown, with the government, trying to have at least a little bit of a Thanksgiving for the family,” said Mark Show of Blakeslee.

That's exactly why a group of five friends from the Blakeslee area got together and organized the neighborhood Thanksgiving dinner drive.

"We have an amazing group of friends, and we always pick each other up, and I think that it was really cool for us to do something for the community all together,” said Kristina Ostrom from Pocono Lake.

In the last two weeks, this group of friends collected enough donations to go from feeding 15 families to over 28. Some say t
