ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — With Thanksgiving a few days away, people arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to head out for the holiday on Monday.
However, the world’s busiest airport wasn’t so busy on Monday morning, with some travelers expecting the worst.
“I got here three hours early, and I’m really excited that there’s no line here, and I couldn’t be happier,” said Mark Small, who is traveling to Orlando for a cruise for the holiday.
Airport officials expect more than 4 million people to pass through for the Thanksgiving season.
The Federal Aviation Administration said this year’s Thanksgiving travel period is expected to be the busiest in 15 years.
The agency said Tuesday will be the peak travel day, with more than 52,000 forecasted flights.
