Staff report
MORROW, Ga. — Clayton State’s men’s basketball team shot 13-for-24 from the 3-point line against Catawba on Saturday.
Ordinarily that will win a college game, but Catawba was excellent at everything other than defending the 3-point line and crushed the Lakers 96-77 on their home floor. Catawba shot 48 percent, made nine 3-pointers, only missed four free throws and battered the home team on the boards.
Catawba (3-1) lost by a point in its opener at Lander, but since that setback has produced three straight overwhelming wins against Peach Belt teams.
Justin Banks led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds. Jashaun Hawkins scored 14.
Catawba won’t play again until it goes to Lenoir-Rhyne on Dec. 3.
