CALUMET — The Calumet Copper Kings hockey team earned a split last weekend by beating Novi Friday before falling to Howell Saturday, both games at the Calumet Colosseum.
In the win against the Wildcats, the Copper Kings scored twice in the first and twice more in the second to put the game out of reach.
Captain Erik Loukus got Calumet on the board with a goal 9:53 into the opening frame. The power play tally was assisted by Nathan Londo and Luke Hamlin.
Londo then extended the lead to 2-0 with just 3:12 remaining in the period. Loukus and Ben Anderson both earned assists on the goal.
In the second period, Hamlin made it 3-0 on another Copper Kings power play 5:40 in. Loukus and Anderson both chipped in to help with the goal.
