The Roswell Drought Contingency Task Force presented its plan for the first time last week to members of the Legal Committee, who recommended approval of the 40-plus-page plan.

A volunteer advisory group with a city councilor as a member and a water department employee serving as a representative, its members spent the past 2.5 years researching water needs and a raft of related topics and guidance for the city government to prevent and respond to drought.

Educating water users about using this resource wisely is also a high priority.

“We’re not in a drought,” said Judy Stubbs, one of the residential customers on the task force and its leader. “But we need to be responsible stewards of the environment.”
