An e-bike rider killed in a crash involving a police officer in Monmouth County last month was identified Monday by investigators.
Around 1 p.m. on Oct. 10, Henry Phillips Jr., 73, of Atlantic Highlands, was riding the bike southbound in the northbound lane of Route 36 in his hometown, according to a statement from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
At the same time, Atlantic Highlands Police Officer Timothy Funk was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Route 36 and Orchard Avenue, the office said.
The vehicles collided after Funk made a right turn on red at the intersection, authorities said.
Phillips was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where he was pronounced deceased on Oct. 19, officials said.
