If it was not clear already, the first thing the new LSU head coach has to do has become obvious. Whether Lane Kiffin or someone else is in charge, the offense needs to be stripped down to the studs and rebuilt.

LSU’s offensive issues this season stood out more than ever in a 13-10 win Saturday night over Western Kentucky. LSU had not scored less than 21 points against a non-power conference opponent since 2000, when it lost 13-10 to UAB during Nick Saban’s first season.

With one regular-season game and a bowl left, LSU still has not scored more than 25 points against an FBS team this year. It has not gone through an entire season without doing that since Division I split into two subdivisions in 1978, and the chances of exceeding that mark are low Saturday against No. 8 Oklahoma.
