CLEVELAND, Ohio – It’s been said authors should write what they know, and Emily Rosen took that to heart.

Rosen, who lives in Los Angeles but whose Cleveland roots run deep, experienced firsthand the nuances and mission of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit when her son was born prematurely.

That experience and love of writing since she was a girl resulted in her book, “Waiting for Max: A NICU Story,” which came out Oct. 21.

“Basically it tells the story of the older sibling,” she said. “She’s kind of a representation of the feelings I had as a mom of waiting for Max to come home.”

Max was born in 2019 six weeks early. He spent 16 days in the NICU.
