WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Two North Carolina turkeys are getting the highest honor this Thanksgiving.
Gobble and Waddle, raised in Wayne County, were introduced Monday at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., ahead of their presidential pardon today, Wednesday, Nov. 25.
After the ceremony, the pair will head to NC State's Prestage Department of Poultry Science, where they'll live out the rest of their days.
According to the National Turkey Federation, the pardon tradition is now in its 78th year, spanning 15 presidential administrations.
