GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Heartland United Way is seeking donors for its Christmas Cheer program, which provides holiday meal vouchers to families in need in Hall County.
The program provides $25 to $50 food vouchers for holiday meals to families who cannot afford them. This year, the organization is distributing 1,300 vouchers, an increase of 300 from last year.
“This year we have 300 more vouchers that we’re going to be sending out and people are still calling our office,” said Sara Kirkley, Heartland United Way communications director. “Registration, unfortunately, ended. We have to get those vouchers out, but people are still calling in need, so in order to keep this fund going, we need donors, the generous people in our area to make sure they continue to donate.”
