INDIANAPOLIS — Two Indianapolis parents are now facing charges for their alleged role in the death of their 1-year-old son .

Wendy Alvarado, 35, has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Dunio Rosales-Duarte, 31, has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and two counts of neglect of a dependent.

“It is crushing to confront the fate of this young child," Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said. "Every child deserves the chance to grow up heathy, safe, and loved.”

IMPD said detectives were called to Eskenazi Hospital just after 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17 to investigate the death of 1-year old Angel Guadalupe Rosales Alvarado.

When detectives arrived at the hospital, they said they saw Angel to be "severely malnourished and underweight."
