SALEM, Va. (WDBJ/Roanoke College Poll Release) - Holiday spending amongst households in Virginia has taken a dip as prices increase, the labor market softens, and ongoing tariff pressures weigh on family budgets, according to a Roanoke College Poll conducted by the Institute for Policy and Opinion Research (IPOR) November 9 through November 14.

Virginians plan to spend an average of $1,035, down 5% from this time last year , according to recent polling.

The poll results revealed people are rebalancing their budgets, with that money going more toward giving peoples gifts as opposed to rewarding themselves.
