BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - A new preliminary hearing date has been set for Kenneth DeHart, the man accused of killing Blount County Deputy Greg McCowan.
DeHart is facing the death penalty after being charged in McCowan’s February 2024 death. He was accused of shooting and killing McCowan during a traffic stop, during which he also shot and injured another Blount County deputy: Shelby Eggers.
On Monday, a Blount County court clerk confirmed with WVLT News that a new preliminary hearing date had been set for Nov. 25 at 10 a.m. before Judge Robert E. Davies.
Davies received his law degree from the University of Tennessee and was elected in 2016 and served as a circuit court judge from 2000 to 2008.
