Major works to tackle a landslip on a Northumberland road are under way. Northumberland County Council says that the works to tackle the landslip on the B6343 Mitford Road are "making good progress".
Engineering teams are said to be facing a "very challenging working environment" as they construct a solution to repair current damage and safeguard the road against future undermining by the River Wansbeck. Tree clearance and vegetation removal is complete in advance of the arrival of over wintering birds, necessary to avoid the project being delayed until spring.
