The annual Pre-Thanksgiving Day bonfire in Barrington has been canceled.
According to the person who has helped organize the bonfire for the last few years, there is no space on the high school campus to hold the event. The bonfire had been set up on the dirt infield of the junior varsity baseball field at Barrington High School. The construction of the new Victory Field athletic complex included the removal of the JV baseball field.
No JV baseball field — no Thanksgiving Eve bonfire.
“No space with the new field,” wrote Patrick Scott, a teacher at the high school who played a key role in setting up the bonfire each year.
