DALLAS — A Dallas police recruit arrested on THC and weapons charges was stopped after allegedly speeding and running a red light in Garland late last month, according to a newly released arrest affidavit.
Asher King, a recruit with the Dallas Police Department, was arrested by the Garland Police Department on Nov. 25 after an officer observed a black Dodge Challenger traveling at a high rate of speed on Lavon Drive near Firewheel Parkway, the affidavit states. The officer followed the vehicle onto the George Bush Turnpike service road, where the car allegedly failed to stop at a red light and accelerated to an estimated 90 mph in a 45-mph zone before being pulled over near Firewheel Parkway and Dalewood Trail, according to the document.
