TAMPA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Anticipating millions of travelers taking to the roads for the Thanksgiving holiday, AAA is bringing back its ‘Tow to Go’ program to help keep impaired drivers off the road.
The life-saving service will be active from 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, through 6:00 a.m. Monday, December 1, across select states, including Florida.
According to AAA, a record 81.8 million Americans are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home during the holiday, and 90% of these travelers are expected to drive to their destinations. Thanksgiving weekend is considered one of the most dangerous travel periods due to the increased traffic and holiday celebrations. AAA created this program to help prevent alcohol-impaired driving, which is involved in roughly one-third of all U.S.
