MONROE, Wis. — A plane crash in Monroe that killed two people Monday evening was flying from Oshkosh to Monroe, according to sources.
The Green County Sheriff's Office said the crash was reported at 5:15 p.m. in the W4600 block of State Highway 59. The area of the reported crash was a gravel quarry on the north side of Highway 59, next to the Monroe Municipal Airport.
A sheriff's deputy who arrived on scene found a fire in the quarry, along with construction equipment. A large debris field from the aircraft was also observed.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration and FlightAware , a 2003 SOCATA TBM 700 departed from Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh and was set to land at the Monroe airport.
