CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Ruben heads to Canyon where he visits a nonprofit that has been serving Canyon for 20 years.

Lyndsey Dickerson, volunteer at Freedom House Outreach Center, says the organization started to meet a need in the community.

“A lot of people just started bringing donations to our church, and we quickly outgrew that,” said Dickerson. “So we go a building downtown, and then we quickly outgrew that, and so we built this and here we are now 20 years later.”

They take donations for anything that helps a daily life, like clothes, shoes, kitchen items, bedding, and more.

“I kind of have the philosophy of everybody’s kind of living paycheck to paycheck. We’re all one paycheck away from needing some sort of help,” said Dickerson. “That’s just what we’re here to do. We’re here t
