EWA BEACH, Hawaii (Island News) – An investigation is underway after a major kidnapping and robbery ordeal occurred in the Ewa Beach and Kapolei area on Monday night.

The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) initially reported that police were investigating a Robbery 2 and Kidnapping incident that occurred at Nimitz Beach around 7 p.m.

Police reported that a 30-year-old father and his two children, ages 7 and 3, were preparing to leave the beach when an unknown man approached their truck and asked for a ride.

When the father declined, the suspect then shoved the father to the ground, entered the truck, and drove off with the children still inside. The father was able to get into the back seat, unbuckle his children, and jump out of the moving truck with them.
