JANESVILLE, Wis. — The 17-year-old teen charged in a rollover crash that left a 15-year-old boy dead and three others injured in early November is heading to trial after pleading not guilty, online court records show.
Carter Perteete faces charges of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, two counts of reckless driving causing great bodily harm and one count of reckless driving causing injury stemming from a Nov. 4 crash.
A criminal complaint alleges that Perteete was driving over the 45 mph speed limit on a gravel road when he lost control while cresting a hill. A 15-year-old boy sustained numerous skull fractures and severe head trauma from the ensuing crash and died at the scene.
The victim's girlfriend previously told police that he threw himself over her during the crash
