Thanksgiving travelers whose trips include towing camper trailers or operating other “high-profile” vehicles will need to be off the Ohio Turnpike by Wednesday morning because of forecast high winds.

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission announced a ban effective at 8 a.m. for a variety of trailers and larger commercial vehicles because of expected windy weather in northern Ohio.

The ban will affect all towed trailers taller than 7 feet, 6 inches, including trailers for boats, campers, mobile homes, offices, and livestock. Trucks hauling empty 53-foot semi-trailers, tandem trailers longer than 90 feet, and all triple-trailer combinations also will be forbidden, as will be two-axle buses longer than 40 feet and all buses longer than 45 feet.
