Thanksgiving, as it is known today, is and always will be considered a uniquely American holiday.
In colonial times, during the first few celebrations, Pilgrim families gathered together to share their bounty with each other and spoke of it universally as a day of celebration for the rewards of “hard, productive work.”
While the story of the “real” Thanksgiving may differ from its modern counterpart, the essential remains the same: this holiday is one of engaged abundance, a recognizable symbol marking the change from the Old World to the New, as a reward for the outstanding results born of individualism and agricultural investment (often with a loss of time, property and blood), and served as an outward measurement of pride, uniquely American pride.
A pride born from caring and loving
