Two goals from Morgan Rogers, who doubled his output for the season, were enough to cancel out Lukas Nmecha's opener and help Villa to a 2-1 victory at Leeds United.
It also saw them capitalise on slips by Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool to move into the Champions League qualifying places.
All of which makes the goal-drought and winless run in the first month of the season, when Rogers was ironically cheered by his own supporters, a distant memory.
Once again, Unai Emery's team is being spoken of in the Champions League qualification conversation - and not just because they might win the Europa League .
