PEORIA, Ill. – The terminals of Peoria International Airport will be busy for the next week as people travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Director of Airports Gene Olson says not all seats are bought yet. But the anticipation is around 32,000 passengers to depart and arrive at PIA through next Tuesday.
On Monday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy declared that Tuesday would be the busiest travel day of the year. But Olson says it’s a different story at PIA.
“Our busiest days are typically the Sunday and Monday after Thanksgiving,” Olson said. “Thanksgiving itself is kind of a lighter travel day. Saturday’s heavy, and Sunday’s very heavy, and Monday’s also heavy.”
Olson says the airport is watching its parking lot to see how many spaces are available.
