ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday that an arrest has been made in connection to the murders of two men found shot to death inside of a vehicle in West Augustine in 2023.

Derrick Walden, 43, faces two first-degree murder charges for the shooting deaths of Cody Bennett, 21, and Tre' Lyons, 22, according to SJSO.

Bennett and Lyons were found dead inside of a vehicle that crashed near the intersection of Pearl Street and North Orange Street in West Augustine on Nov. 27, 2023.

During the investigation, SJSO said detectives located surveillance video of a person walking to and running from the area of the crash around the time of the murders. SJSO said a review of Bennett's phone revealed that he was communicating with Walden just before the shoo
