CLEVELAND — After all the ballots were counted in the race for Cleveland City Council's Ward 12 seat , challenger Tamnay Shah finished nine votes ahead of incumbent Ward 11 Councilman Danny Kelly to win the election.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections released the official results of the Nov. 4 election, including provisional ballots, on Tuesday. Shah finished with 1,485 votes to Kelly's 1,479.

“Just a real testament to the ground work that we did,” Shah told 3News media partner Signal Cleveland at the board’s headquarters Tuesday. “I think it really just came down to how many people we were able to talk to, and I’m really fortunate we had so many people contribute to that.”
